Dennis is responsible for the overall direction of our delivery services to ensure we are both professional and focused on delivering realizable value to each of our clients. This consistency in delivery is achieved through POG’s formalized methodologies utilized for all assessment and implementation projects.  In addition we work closely with each client to understand their issues, challenges and concerns and apply our experience and knowledge to ensure they are addressed successfully.

Dennis has over 30 years of technology and financial management experience. His responsibilities have ranged from an analyst to financial accountant to the executive responsible for Accounting and Information Systems in a large transportation organization.  He has worked in the resource, utility, and transportation sectors prior to joining POG where he has directed the service delivery activities for the past ten years.

Over the past 10+ years, Dennis has managed projects in each of the POG program areas including:

  • Conducting > 60+ print assessments for organizations spanning government (federal and local), academia, oil and gas, financial (insurance and banking), manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, retail sales and health care.
  • Supporting > 20+ clients from amongst those same organizations and others in the entire RFP-SLA process from creation to vendor selection and contract negotiation.
  • Implementing > 15+ clients in the implementation of print infrastructure and sustainment programs across their organizations on both a regional and national level.

Print Assessment Projects

Project Manage all aspects of each Print Assessment including communications, project planning and control, data gathering coordination, resource allocation, status reporting, quality assurance, and assessment delivery. Clients have spanned several business sectors in both Canada and the USA. 

Atco  Aug 2010

Atco I-Tek required a contract benchmarking and current state cost validation of the existing print service contract. The review provided the basis for finalizing the contract renewal and implementing the desired service level.

Government of Alberta (GoA)  Jun 2010

GoA selected POG to lead the review of the existing print infrastructure in selected departments.  The review provided a current cost base, strategy and modeled target state.  The design provided a solution that significantly reduced costs and provided a more robust and dependable print environment.

Viterra  Apr 2010

Viterra hired POG to provide a cost validation and develop a standard model to integrate a recent acquisition in to their print environment.  The objective to implement the standard Viterra footprint and reduce costs was achieved.

Government of Canada – Public Works  Mar 2010

POG was contracted to complete a current state analysis and develop a strategy to consolidate their central reproduction sites.  The objective of identifying a path and reduction was met.

Government of New Brunswick (GNB)  Jun 2009

GNB hired POG to complete a province wide print assessment.  A summary of the current devices and costs, strategy and modeled target state were provided.  The design identified significant savings and the opportunity to update an aging environment.

Calgary Co-op  Feb 2009

POG was engaged to complete a full print assessment and benchmark where Co-Op is versus its peers. Created a current cost baseline, strategy and future state identifying where Co-op are and the opportunities for efficiency.  The objective to provide Co-op an updated common technology and a reduced cost base was completed successfully.

Public Services Energy Group (USA)  Jan 2009

POG was engaged to conduct a full print assessment to validate inventory, volume and cost information.  Identify opportunities for cost reductions, consolidation and service improvements.

Kaiser Permanente (USA)  Dec 2008

POG was engaged to design a service metric system and update the financial model developed in 2006.  Kaiser wants to implement a tight system to track and monitor the service provider’s ability to fulfill their service commitments.

Halliburton (USA)  Jun 2008

POG completed a full print assessment of Halliburton’s USA operations, the assessment provided a current cost baseline, strategy and future state model.  The objective to provide a a road map to address an aging fleet and materially reduce the overall cost of print was met.

FortisAlberta  Dec 2007

POG has been engaged several times between 2001 – 2007, projects included an original assessment, validation and gap analysis of the current distributed and central repro outsourcing contracts and resetting the current state baselines and modeled future states.

Great West Life (USA)  Nov 2007

POG was engaged to conduct an assessment of the production print facilities in two centers in the USA.  Assessment included creation of the current state baseline and the identification of a modeled state to effectively meet the needs of the organization.

BC Government – Ministry of Education  Oct 2007

POG was engaged to work with the governments contracted service provider to create a current state cost baseline and a future state that would allow the ministry to take advantage of new technology and resulting cost savings.

University of Winnipeg  Mar 2007

POG was engaged to complete a full print assessment and work with their organization wide print advisory committee.  The objective to provide the University an updated technology and a reduced cost base was completed successfully.

Enbridge  May 2005

Enbridge required reviews at both their Edmonton and Calgary operations to establish the current cost baselines and benchmarked versus industry.

RBC  Apr 2005

POG was engaged to conduct a review and comparison of RBC’s production print and central reprographic facilities across Canada and identify opportunities for consolidation and cost reduction.

Southlake Hospital  Apr 2005

POG was engaged to conduct a detailed distributed print assessment to determine current state and to create strategy and future modeled target state. 

University of Calgary  Apr 2005

POG was engaged to complete a full print assessment for the entire university and to develop a future state that met the needs of the university and each of the faculties. Process included surveying on a partial basis each faculty and department and generating a complete estimate of the organization.

Viterra  Jan 2005

POG was engaged to conduct a distributed print assessment for the head office and sample field sites and extrapolate the findings for the entire organization to identify opportunities for improvement and cost reductions, establish the current cost baseline and develop a future state model.

MTS Allstream  Aug 2004

POG was engaged to complete distributed and production environment assessments for both MTS and Allstream to assist in the creation of comparable cost baselines and develop future state for the merged environment.

National Energy Board  Mar 2004

POG was engaged to create a distributed print strategy for the organization.  Identify cost reduction and productivity improvement opportunities.

RFP-SLA Projects

Project Manage all aspects of each RFP-SLA including drafting the content of the RFP-SLA (excludes client ‘boilerplate’)  including current state, equipment and service requirements, service level agreement, and supporting documents, advising on marketplace, participating in submission assessments, and advising during negotiations. Langara College  Jul 2010

POG provided an expert review of the vendor proposals to the college.  These findings were utilized as the basis for negotiating a contract with the services required by the college.

Viterra  May 2010

POG completed a pricing and services review of the standard providers to ensure they were industry competitive.  The analysis allowed Viterra to work the vendor of their choice and to significantly reduce the time for the renewal implementation.

Calgary Co-op  Jan 2010

POG worked with Co-op staff to build the RFP content for the distributed print environment.  POG lead the vendor selection process and the final negotiations.  Final contracts were drafted by POG for execution by Co-op and vendor.

Halliburton Canada  Jun 2008

POG was engaged to develop the RFP content for both distributed and business support services.  The project included creating the documents, managing the vendor questions and communications, coordinating the evaluation and contract negotiations.

University of Winnipeg  April 2008

POG was engaged to conduct an enterprise-wide assessment on distributed and central print environment.  Objective … determine current state baseline, create strategy and identify cost reduction opportunities. Develop an RFP and SLA.

POG was engaged to write the RFP / SLA, coordinate the process, and lead the evaluation and contract negotiation.  This program was required to be delivered to meet tight time constraints.

David Thompson Health Region  May 2004

POG was engaged to update distributed current state and modeled target state financials.  Prepare client to go to the market.  Write RFQ / SLA for both the distributed and specialty (label) printer environment.  Evaluate, select and deploy initial administrative site.

FortisAlberta  Dec 2007

POG was engaged to update the current state baseline and draft RFP / SLA for FortisAlberta to utilize in their contract renewal negotiations.

Canadian Pacific Railway  Aug 2002

POG was engaged to assist in the evaluation, selection and negotiation of a distributed print solution to meet their head office and field needs.

Implementation Projects

Project Manage and/or act in an advisory capacity on all aspects of implementations including communications, project planning and coordination, resource management, vendor engagement, status reporting, quality assurance, and issue and risk management – usually in collaboration with a client designated PM and often with an ‘on site’ POG Coordinator. Halliburton USA  Current

POG is managing the renewal of all USA sites.  The project includes over 200 sites most of very large size.  The project is on track to significantly reduce the current cost base and standardize the device footprint and support model.

Viterra  Oct 2010

POG managed the renewal of over 200 sites, the role included validation of the vendor’s proposed designs.  The project was completed on schedule significantly reducing the number of device models and meeting the savings targets.

Calgary Co-op  Apr 2010

POG managed the renewal of the head office, 23 large retail stores and several small operations.  The goal of standardized devices and significantly lower costs was met through cooperative site designs and vendor management.

Halliburton Canada  Aug 2008

POG was engaged to provide project management for the implementation of the new distributed and central reproduction solution.

University of Winnipeg  Aug 2008

POG was engaged to assist in the project planning and assist in the site design and communication required for an organization wide roll out.  The objective to provide the University an updated technology and a reduced cost base was completed successfully.

BC Government – Ministry of Education  Jun 2008

POG was engaged to assist the department with the renewal of their print infrastructure.  The project included project management, site design, roll out coordination and communication.

POG was engaged to project manage a rapid implementation to renew the print environment including site design, communication and training coordination.

Viterra  Feb 2007

POG was engaged to plan and manage a province wide roll out.  The project also included the design and successful implementation to achieve a 40% reduction in devices.

Canadian Pacific Railway  Dec 2002

POG was engaged to lead the renewal of the network devices at the head office.  The project included an extensive communication and training program.
